The ExLink port is a port on the back of your Samsung SmartTV that allows engineers and specialist TV programmers to literally get inside your TV to fix and update various parts of the system.

The ExLink cable has a 3.5mm jack (like a audio headphone cable) on one side and on the other side an RS232 ( Serial ) DB9 connector. This cable will allow you to connect your computer to the TV, and enter the Serial mode. It’s basically the emergency door to your TV. In order to communicate with your TV using this port, you will have to use Serial Communications Software, like HyperTerminal from Windows.

For C,D Series Smart TV’s there is no ExLink port. In order to connect to the TV’s serial connection this will need to be made via the VGA port of your TV.

Please note, that we do not encourage you to play around with the port to try and hack your TV as you can cause permanent damage to your TV if you do not know what you are doing. After all, why would you want to change and tamper with the lovely technology given to you?
