TMZ SmartTV App Review
TMZ is a hugely successful celebrity news website that debuted on November 8, 2005. It was a collaboration between AOL and Telepictures Productions, a division of Warner Bros. Regularly referenced by the media, TMZ is one of the most cited entertainment news sources in the world, utilized by thousands of global newsgathering organizations.
So when the app came out, I for one was certainly intrigued to find out about the latest celebrity gossip.
The app when launched takes you straight to the main menu where you are presented with the usual video portal menu options such as ‘featured’, ‘episodes’, ‘popular’, ‘bookmarks’ and ‘search’.
There really is a lot of footage on this app. The videos may be short, but they stream one after the other giving you the TV like playback we are all used to on regular TV. As soon as I started the first video, I was very impressed with the navigation around the content. A banner appears to the left of the screen that allows you to bookmark or pause the video and the quality was also very good.
Overall, it’s a good app if you are one of those viewers that just loves all things celebrity! It looks quite slick and has alot of content. The only downside from my perspective was the performance, as some videos did take a while to buffer even on my 60meg broadband connection.
