How to Setup Social TV on a Samsung SmartTV
The social TV app is another app that come pre-installed on your Samsung SmartTV and is a social network aggregator that pulls all of your social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter and Google Talk into one feed. It has been designed to allow you to both watch TV and also post a status update or talk about what you’re watching by posting something to your networks without moving away from what you are watching.
When you launch the app, you are asked to login or create a SmartHub account. This is an email address and password you will use to aggregate your other social network accounts into. It’s very handy that you can create a SmartHub account on the TV so no need to turn your laptop on!
Once you have created your account, go back into SmartHub and press the ‘Blue button’ to access the settings area. Then select ‘Account Management’:
Then select ‘Register Service Account’.
This will take you to a page that displays a list of social media apps installed on your SmartTV. Select one and change the setting from unregistered to registered at which point you will be asked to enter the relevant social media network username and password.
Once you have registered your social media network details then launch SmartHub and select the SocialTV app. This will bring up a row on the right hand side of the screen that will post all the latest updates from any of the accounts you have registered. The results are displayed and posted in real time and do not intrude what you’re watching too much. It’s a great way to post and watch at the same time!
